Senior Frontend Developer Position
As a senior frontend developer you are responsible for the further development of our primary application: docGen. This means of course that you write code and take care of the associated unit tests yourself. In addition, you contribute to improving the software architecture and you are actively involved in translating wishes and ideas into a technical design that fits within the design principles of docGen. You keep yourself informed of new developments and technologies.

What are you gonna build?
DocGen is a web-based enterprise level application that delivers powerful document generation functionalities, with maximum ease of implementation and integration. DocGen is the government-wide standard for the (automated) creation of documents in (State) branding, with which approximately 60% of our ministries currently create their formal documents such as letters, reports, memos and reports according to the house style guidelines. DocGen excels at using complex dynamic forms, which is what makes the frontend of docGen a complex beast!
What will you do as a Senior Frontend Developer at Rednose?
You will help invent and develop Agile new features for docGen. Together with your team and the product owner, you will draw up specifications, work out mockups, and together develop the intuitive front-end elements to make these functions a cohesive and integral part of our product.
DocGen consists of 14 single page apps, all of which fulfill a specific function in the bigger picture. You are constantly thinking about how to improve these apps, in order to take the product to an even higher level.
In addition, you contribute working out architectural issues, where the Frontend is your thing. You think about how to migrate as efficiently as possible from legacy frameworks to contemporary technologies, which is currently our priority. Of course you also contribute to quality improvements for the application by solving bugs and shortcomings. You are actually concerned about visual consistency within the total product, while you understand our target groups and you think about Interaction Design.
Based on your expertise, you actively contribute to sharing knowledge with your team. You write your own tests to take test-driven development to a higher level. You are part of brainstorming sessions in order to give direction to the future development of the product. You apply best practices in the field of typography, in order to pixel-perfectly determine where what goes in the product output.
What you are as a Senior Frontend Developer at Rednose
- Javascript holds no more secrets for you. You live and breathe JS and you have extensive experience with Javascript Frameworks such as React and Angular; our codebase is now 50/50
- Plus: Experience with Legacy frameworks jQuery and AngularJS.
- Skilled in creating and improving complex Single Page Applications
- Experience with Test Driven Development. We use Cypress and Karma
- Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration
- Experience with revision management. We use Gitlab
- Plus: affinity with Visual Design aspects of software
In addition, you are ambitious, driven and eager to learn. You are able to operate independently, but you are also a team player. You are a wizard with front-end technologies such as React, Angular, TypeScript, and you have experience with single page app development. You can empathize with our customers and you translate their wishes into tight code. You have In-depth knowledge of the various Frontend frameworks, allowing you to play an advisory role in architectural issues. You have at least 4+ years of experience as a developer and you also stay abreast of the latest techniques and methods in your field.

This means that clean code, design for testing and a high degree of test automation are essential! This team consists of 8 people, 3 of whom are passionate developers with a passion for detail and with a great love for elegant code, and a dog with a small obsession for carrots.
